UAF to celebrate Alaska education in Juneau

Juneau will host more than 100 high school students, teachers, administrators, legislators and community members from throughout Alaska on March 9 to celebrate the education profession.
During the event, organized by University of Alaska Fairbanks K-12 Outreach, attendees will share their stories and ideas. Presentations will be from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by a meet-and-greet from 6:30-9 p.m., at Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, 320 West Willoughby Ave.
The event will start with a brief presentation by University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen and stories from UAF K-12 Outreach. Then participants will share experiences, priorities and ideas on education in Alaska.
UAF K-12 Outreach, which is part of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, offers programs to foster high school students in education careers; develops place-based and culturally relevant curricula for rural communities; offers educator mentoring and training; and plays roles in teacher recruitment and retention.
