UAF wind symphony to perform tonight

The UAF Wind Symphony and UAF Jazz Band will be performing in concert on Oct. 12 at
7 p.m. in the Charles Davis Concert Hall at UAF. This is the first concert of our
season and will feature an "All American" program.
The Wind Symphony will be performing "American Salute" by Pulitzer Prize winning composer
Morton Gould on the 100th Anniversary of his birth; "Variations on America" by Charles
Ives; "An American Elegy" by Frank Ticheli in memory of those who lost their lives
at Columbine High School in 1999, and to honor their survivors; and "The Leaves are
Falling" by Warren Benson in retrospect of the assassination of J.F. Kennedy in 1963;
and "American Barndance" by Richard Saucedo.
The second half of the program will feature the Jazz Band performing "American Patrol"
arr. Glenn Miller, "Billie's Bounce" arr. Bill Holman, "Killer Joe" by Benny Golson,
and "All My Yesterdays" by Thad Jones. Tickets are available in advance through the
Music Department at 474-7555 or at the door and are $10/$5 seniors/students/military,
and under 12 are free.
