Summer Sessions is hosting a variety of lectures, movies and concerts this week. All events will take place at the Murie Building Auditorium unless otherwise noted. All events listed below are free to the public.
Wednesday, Aug. 7
5:30 — 6:30 p.m. — Family Fitness Wednesday: Participate in an hour-long rock climbing session at the Student Recreation Center with Kaydee Miller, no certification required.
7 p.m. — Discover Alaska Lecture: “Unacknowledged Legislators of Alaska” with Derick Burleson, English professor
Thursday, Aug. 8
7 p.m. — Music in the Garden with Leighton and the Loners. Original songs from the boreal forest and cypress lined bayous! Originally from Louisiana, Leighton has been living, picking, and writing music in his handmade log cabin in Ester Alaska since late last century.
7 p.m. — REEL History night - The Road Taken (1996) Presents the experiences of Black sleeping-car porters who worked on Canada's railways from the early 1900s through the 1960s. (52 mins)

7 p.m. — Family Cultural Nights: "It's More Fun in the Philippines!" with LP O'Leary, UAF Grant Technician
Tuesday, Aug. 13
7 p.m. — Healthy Living Lecture: “Injuries: Prevention of the #1 killer of children and teenagers" with Dr. Shallon T. Craddock, Pediatric Primary Care Physician, Tanana Valley Clinic and FMH
Wednesday, Aug. 14
5:30 — 6:30 p.m. — Family Fitness Wednesday: Join us for an hour of group fitness for all ages at the Student Recreation Center.
7 p.m. — Discover Alaska Lecture: “Overflow: 25 years of cartooning in Alaska” with Jamie Smith, cartoonist
