URSA presents Mentoring Awards

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity recently presented six awards to faculty and graduate students who mentor or are preparing to mentor undergraduate students in research and creative projects.

The Mentoring Award recipients and their projects are:


  • Carie Green, education — "Young Children’s Experiences of Their Forest, Phase 2"

  • Evangelene Hensell, English — "Identity, Liminality and Contemporary Approaches to Technology in the Classroom"

  • Sine Anahita, sociology — "Digital Man Cave Data Analysis Project"

  • Devin Drown, biology and wildlife — "Using Nanopore Sequencing to Explore Genomics"

  • Jennifer Guerard, chemistry — "Determination of Flame Retardants and Current-use Pesticide Interactions in Natural Arctic and Sub-Arctic Surface Waters"

  • Margaret Darrow, mining and geological engineering — "Completing the Process: Disseminating the Results of the Research at the 11th International Conference on Permafrost"
