University Relations

The Financial Aid Office is organizing the Kids2College Program in Alaska’s Interior region. Local sixth-graders are completing a six-week curriculum, learning about careers and how to prepare for college. At the end of the program, the students will visit campus to experience a day in the life of a college student.

Volunteers are needed for various aspects of the program.

Career panel speakers will visit a school to talk about their career fields at one of the following times and locations:

  • March 3, 9-10 a.m., Barnette Magnet School

  • March 31, 12:30-1:20 p.m., Joy Elementary

  • April 7, 10-11 a.m., Nordale Elementary

  • April 9, 10-11 a.m., Nordale Elementary

  • April 17, 9-10 a.m., U Park Elementary

On April 23, all 300 students will visit UAF to experience a day in the life of a college student. Each student will take three mock college classes and receive a campus tour. Volunteers are needed to lead a hands-on, 45-minute session for groups of 25-30 sixth-graders and their teachers. This is a great way to highlight your program and inspire a future college student.

Available time slots are:

  • 10:15-11 a.m.

  • 11:15-noon

  • 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

  • 12:45-1:30 p.m.
