Water pressure fluctuation triggered fire alarms

Fire sprinkler system alarms sounded in several buildings March 7 after water pressure fluctuated when a new 10-inch College Utilities pipe was connected to the campus water supply.

The University Fire Department responded as quickly as possible. However, due to the numerous alarms activated, it took longer than normal for the department to restore the systems.

Scott Bell, associate vice chancellor for Facilities Services, does not expect this to be a problem in the future. Facilities Services apologizes for the disruption to the occupants of the affected buildings.
