Week’s events: Cole brothers, epigenetics, Chena changes, blues

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week ahead:

• On Monday, July 8, the the 2019 UAF Legacy Lecture will include an evening with brothers Dermot and Terrence Cole. Dermot, a longtime Alaska journalist, and Terrence, a historian and retired UAF faculty member, will discuss their shared history, including their time at UAF, and reflect on what lies ahead. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at Davis Concert Hall.
• On Tuesday, July 9, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature naturopathic doctor Ashley May, who will discuss “Epigenetics: Unlocking Your Genetic Potential.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Wednesday, July 10, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Bob Henszey, branch chief, Conservation Planning Assistance, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, on “Chena Slough and River Changes Over the Past 100 Years.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Thursday, July 11, the Music in the Garden concert series will host Marc Brown and The Blues Crew. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
