University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting nearly
50 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening
during the week ahead:
- On Monday, June 12, the Down Memory Lane interview series will feature discussions with Larry Bennett, UAF professor emeritus of engineering management, 1968-97, and Bill Mendenhall, UAF professor emeritus of civil engineering, 1955-87. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interviews, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Elvey Building auditorium.
- On Tuesday, June 13, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature psychiatrist Dr. Vanessa Venezie, clinical social worker Michelle Tirrell and occupational therapist Bobbi Ross presenting “Demystifying the fourth floor: What happens in an inpatient psychiatric ward.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Wednesday, June 14, the Discover Alaska lecture series will present UAF Fire Chief Doug Schrage on “Partnerships in fire resilience: How to prevent fires and prepare yourself and your home.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Thursday, June 15, the Music in the Garden concert series will host Marc Brown and The Blues Crew. Brown, a Koyukon Athabascan, and his band have 12 albums and earned national acclaim. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
