Week’s events: UAF history, obesity lecture, space science, local music

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week ahead:

• On Monday, June 25, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion with Bob Carlson, UAF professor of civil engineering, 1968-2005. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Elvey Building auditorium.
• On Tuesday, June 26, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature endocrinologist Dr. Muhammad Ahmed and “The Obesity Paradox.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Wednesday, June 27, the Discover Alaska lecture series will present Bob McCoy, director of the UAF Geophysical Institute, discussing “HAARP: New Frontiers in Space Science on the Last Frontier.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Thursday, June 28, the Music in the Garden concert series will host indie/folk singer-songwriter Emily Anderson. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
