Week’s events: UAF zoology, testosterone talk, Alaska farming, string tunes

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting 40
free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during
the week ahead:
• On Monday, Aug. 5, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion
with Ron Smith, retired UAF professor of zoology. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon
will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature endocrinologist
Muhammad Ahmed, on “Is Testosterone Replacement A Panacea for Middle Aged Men?” The
lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Mike Emers,
owner of Rosie Creek Farm. Emers will discuss “From Cabbage to Cannabis: Twenty Years
on a Subarctic Farm.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Thursday, Aug. 8, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the E.T. Barnette
String Band. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
