Carolyn Kremers, a writer and long-time adjunct lecturer in UAF's Department of English, has received a second Fulbright scholar award to teach in Russia.

Kremers will teach creative writing and contemporary American literature at Buryat State University in Ulan Ude for two semesters, beginning September 2015. Kremers taught at BSU for 10 months as a scholar in 2008-09.

Ulan Ude is the capital city of Buryatia, the republic located in eastern Siberia just north of Mongolia and east of Lake Baikal. The Buryats are the largest group of indigenous people in the Russian Federation, and their homeland is the center for Tibetan Buddhism in Russia.

While living in Ulan Ude, Kremers will continue work on her narrative nonfiction book about Buryatia, its people and history, and her personal experiences there.
