"Hare Serving Platter" is from Teresa Shannon's exhibition "Back Porch Sightings: Pottery from the Boreal Forest."

Teresa Shannon, an adjunct lecturer in the Art Department, will give an artist talk Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. in the Bear Gallery in the Centennial Center for the Arts.

This is an in-person only event, and attendees must register ahead of time.
There will not be a virtual option for this talk. Attendance will be limited to 20 people, and all attendees are required to wear a mask.

Shannon’s exhibition, “Back Porch Sightings: Pottery from the Boreal Forest,” features sculptural pots that are inspired by the small, often overlooked, wildlife that live in backyards around Fairbanks. The exhibition includes sculptural pottery that commemorates the lives of the squirrels, shrews, chickadees, and other tiny creatures of the boreal forest.

In her artist talk, Shannon will discuss the local animals that inspire her work and the historic vessels that she references. She will also detail her various construction and firing processes in her animated sculptural pottery.
