The next College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences seminar is on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. via Zoom. The speaker is Scott Gabara, who is a coastal margins postdoctoral researcher in CFOS’s Department of Marine Biology. 

"Causes and Consequences of Aleutian Island Kelp Forest Loss"

Gabara will describe how kelp and other macroalgae bolster complex food webs, act as a sponge for land-based consumer derived nutrients, and deal with herbivory after the overgrazing of kelp forests.
