The next College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences seminar is on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. via Zoom. The speaker is CFOS graduate student Kyle Dilliplaine.

"Determining Sea-Ice Diatom Sensitivity to Sublethal Crude  Oil Exposure in a Brighter Arctic"

Sea-ice diatoms are a crucial part of the Arctic food web and provide an early source of nutrition to consumers each spring. Thinning ice and low snow cover increases light intensity in the upper ocean and allow for more shipping and offshore oil exploration.

Attendees must register in advance. Email amaguilarislas@alaska.edu for more information.
