Coming soon: Blackboard Ultra base navigation
As a part of the University of Alaska’s commitment to improving user experiences for all Blackboard users, starting in fall 2022 the UA Blackboard Learn environment will receive a refresh with the implementation of Ultra base navigation. With this update users can expect a sleek and modern navigation experience that helps all users of UA Blackboard Learn get the most from their learning tool.
What is Ultra base navigation?
Ultra base navigation is a central navigation menu that exists outside the course
experience and includes many new features, such as the user activity stream and modernized
calendar, providing quick access to the critical course information without having
to actually enter a course.
How will things change for me?
Users accessing UA Blackboard Learn will immediately notice the updated navigation
panel. The panel provides a clean and consolidated means to the most critical information
within Blackboard - from grades, to deadlines, and everything in between. Additionally,
this visual refresh significantly improves usability and performance across devices,
helping to improve the experience of users on mobile phones and tablets. Keep in mind
that the addition of Ultra base navigation does not affect courses. Courses will still
look and feel as they do right now.
Where can I find more information about Ultra base navigation?
Blackboard has created videos and information for both students and instructors. In
addition, any Blackboard user who wishes to experience the look and feel of the Ultra
base navigation experience before the summer transition may preview in the UA Learn
test environment today.
