Community college hosting Aug. 18 registration event downtown

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College will hold a community event with a fire truck, ambulance, small airplane, food, 3D printers and more Thursday, Aug. 18.

The CTC Registration Bash will take place outside and inside the CTC Downtown Center, 604 Barnette Street from 4-6 p.m. 

People in Fairbanks can learn more about UAF CTC programs through equipment demonstrations and activities. 

The event also serves as a one-stop shop for prospective students to sign up for fall semester classes. CTC Student Services will be on hand to help students with applications for admission, advising, financial aid and class registration — all in one evening.

The $40 admission application fee will be waived at this event.

Some program highlights include:

  • Fire science: fire truck
  • Paramedicine/emergency medical services: ambulance
  • Aviation: small aircraft
  • Culinary arts: new food trailer 
  • Drafting/design: 3D printers
  • Recreation: chair yoga and tennis instruction
  • Automotive technology: vehicles and vehicle maintenance technology equipment

UAF CTC offers over 40 career-focused, certificate and associate degree programs — many available 100% online. CTC also partners with community and industry organizations to offer relevant hands-on skill training and education to students, to fit the needs of current employers. CTC programs are administered in seven locations throughout Fairbanks and surrounding areas, including the Hutchison Institute of Technology, the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center, the Aviation Technology Facility and more.
