The University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College  has launched a fully online program that lets students earn an Associate of Arts degree in just one year.

Students will start the AAY program in either January or August. They’ll take online classes at both set times and on their own schedules. The program features a maximum out-of-pocket cost of $2,000 per semester for eligible Alaska residents. Credits earned are easily transferable to any bachelor’s program at UAF, allowing students to complete both an associate and a bachelor’s degree in as little as three years.

Classes in the AAY program are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, accommodating those balancing work and personal commitments. The program consists of one two-week session and eight six-week sessions, with courses selected to highlight common themes and ideas.

This structure enhances learning through interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing students to explore subjects such as Alaska’s natural history alongside the fundamentals of archaeology.

Students will progress through the program as part of a group, providing an opportunity to build relationships and support networks. Experienced faculty members will teach all courses, using a curriculum designed to be engaging and relevant.

Enrollment for the Associate of Arts in a Year program is now open. Visit the CTC website for more information and to apply.

CTC offers more than 50 certificate and degree programs designed to meet the evolving needs of learners and the Alaska workforce.
