A statewide webinar will teach participants how to design a competitive exhibit, like these at the Alaska State Fair in 2022, to showcase their handiwork.

If your turnips are terrific and your dahlias delightful this summer, display your green thumb at the Alaska State Fair in August.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service has invited Kathy Liska, the fair’s crop superintendent and a master gardener, to lead a free webinar on how to participate in the competitive exhibits at the fair, which runs Aug. 16-Sept. 2 in Palmer.

Liska will explain the submission process, judging criteria and other guidelines. She may even share a tip or two on how to take home the win.

The webinar is 6-7 p.m. on Monday, July 22, and is available statewide. Preregister via Zoom at https://bit.ly/AlaskaFairExhibits.
