Geoscience Seminar: Zach Ross
Date: Oct. 22, 2021
Time: 11:45 a.m.
Location: Online via Zoom
Zach Ross of Caltech will present “Evidence for Latent Crustal Fluid Injection Transients in Southern California From Long-Duration Earthquake Swarms”
We examine the spatiotemporal distribution of aseismic processes in Southern California using a 12-year catalog of seismic swarms derived with deep learning algorithms. Challenging common views about the nature of swarms, the regional prevalence of these sequences suggests that transient fluid injection processes play a key role in crustal fluid transport.
The presentation starts at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, via Zoom.
