IARC Salon: The changing culture of fieldwork

Join the International Arctic Research Center for November's IARC Salon, "The Changing Culture of Fieldwork." The culture of safety and inclusion in fieldwork is evolving to consider changing conversations around social justice movements, risk management and technological innovation. During this salon, the speakers will talk about the approaches they have taken to make fieldwork safer for researchers, participants and the local communities in which they work. The conversation will include: working with youth, girls and gender-expansive people; communicating with Tribes and local communities; and title IX changes that helped promote a culture of fieldwork safety. This month's speakers are:
- Joanna Young Director, Inspiring Girls Expeditions of Alaska and IARC Postdoctoral Fellow
- Bob Bolton Research Associate Professor, International Arctic Research Center
- Syndonia Bret-Harte, Science Co-Director for Toolik Field Station, and a Professor in Biology and Wildlife
This semester’s IARC salon graduate student coordinators are Julian Dann and Sarah Clement.
