Chancellor Dan White has named Jennifer Tilbury as the interim director of the UAF Student Success Center. Tilbury is currently an associate professor of developmental English at the Community and Technical College, where she is also director of Student Success and Instructional Support.

In this expanded role, effective immediately, Tilbury will lead current efforts to develop and organize the UAF Student Success Center. She will remain in her position at CTC throughout the spring semester, splitting her time while bridging student success efforts between campuses.

Tilbury will serve as a member of the provost's leadership team and will work to develop and direct short- and long-range goals, objectives, and initiatives related to student success, including first-year experience, first-year advising, and retention efforts.

The SSC has been in the planning and development stages for almost two years and is being constructed on the sixth floor of the Rasmuson Library. The center is expected to open by summer 2023. The mission of the SSC is to be an active learning environment where people congregate to learn from each other, supported by partners and peer mentors; an interdisciplinary center of discovery and innovation that is an active, integral part of the UAF educational experience; and a comfortable and inviting space where the academic and social needs of the student as a person are met.
