Library hosts speaker on fake news, misinformation

The Elmer E. Rasmuson Library will host a virtual presentation, “Fake News, Misinformation and Media Manipulation,” with journalist, author and expert Craig Silverman. This event, on Thursday, March 24 at 1 p.m. via Zoom, is open to all and will be recorded for registrant viewing.

Silverman is an award-winning journalist and author and one of the world's leading experts on online disinformation, fake news and digital investigations. He is a reporter for ProPublica covering voting, platforms, disinformation and online manipulation.

Silverman previously served as media editor of BuzzFeed News, where he pioneered coverage of digital disinformation and media manipulation. He is also the editor of the European Journalism Centre’s Verification Handbook series, which offer guidance on how to verify online content and investigate disinformation and media manipulation.
