Malware detection and prevention training course at CTC
UA OIT is hosting a 32-hour, instructor-led, hands-on course from the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium from July 22-25. This training course is developed by the Criminal Justice Institute at the University of Arkansas System.
Course Description
The Malware Detection and Prevention (MPDR) Training Course will expose participants
to analysis of malicious software used by cyber-criminals and cyber-terrorists. After
an introduction to modern malware, participants will learn how to prevent a malware
outbreak, discover and identify malware through active network traffic analysis, prepare
for dynamic analysis of malware samples of various types and intent, and how to isolate,
re-mediate, and recover from a malware outbreak. The course will conclude with a review
of dynamic malware analysis and a look at emerging trends in the use of malicious
software in network intrusions and data theft.
Target Audience
This course was developed for technical personnel and technical managers within the
public or private sectors affiliated with an agency or organization considered as
part of our nation’s critical infrastructure.
Prerequisites
Participants should have some experience as a cybersecurity professional, a basic
understanding of network concepts, and a basic understanding of computer operating
systems.
- Preferred Prerequisite: Two years experience as a system or network administrator, or as an IT security specialist.
Required Materials
This course is delivered in a mobile training lab, using laptops that are preconfigured
with hands-on exercises that immerse participants in real-world cybersecurity examples.
