Memorial stair climb event scheduled for 9/11

Fairbanks-area fire departments will host a memorial stair climb to recognize the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the firefighters who died at the World Trade Center that day. The event will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Carlson Center.

The University Fire Department and the Tanana Valley Chapter of the Alaska State Firefighters Association invite all community members, including families, to remember the 343 fire fighters by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center during this untimed, family-friendly event.  Proceeds will go to the Alaska State Fallen Firefighters Fund. 

Registration is open online. The first 350 participants will get a T-shirt.

Individual 

• $35 through Sept. 1
• $50 Sept. 2-10
• $65 day of event

Team (up to six climbers)

• $150 through Sept. 1
• $250 Sept. 2-10
• $350 day of event
