Nanook Navigator and Student Success Spotlight: Alexandra Fitts
The Nanook Navigator and Student Success spotlight for September is Alexandra Fitts. Alexandra is the vice provost in the Division of General Studies.
Why are you passionate about UAF students & their success?
My favorite part of my role is the variety - no two days are the same. I may be meeting students at an event, working behind the scenes with programs like Nanook Navigator, or brainstorming ideas about how to support UAF students with other faculty, staff, and administrators.
Favorite part about being an administrator?
Because they are passionate about their own success! No one comes to college without goals and plans for their future. Our students are working hard to achieve those goals and it is an honor to help them.
What is your favorite feature in Nanook Navigator?
I love that we are able to text students who have opted into receiving texts. Texting is the quickest and most effective way to reach students with important messages.
How long have you been utilizing Nanook Navigator?
Since 2017 - I’ve been part of it from the beginning!
Tips, advice, or ideas to support other Nanook Navigator users or student success practices?
The more people we have using Nanook Navigator, the better we are able to support students. If students’ faculty, advisors, and support staff are all connected and able to see the same information, we can work together to get students the resources they need quickly.
