The University of Alaska Museum of the North will focus on fossils during family programs in November.
Families with children ages 5 and under are invited to drop in at Early Explorers on Friday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. Create and discover with hands-on activities in the Creativity Lab, and explore the galleries.
Junior Curators, designed for children 6 and older with an adult, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. Drop in anytime to create a replica fossil, discover paleo art, see fossils from the collections and explore the galleries with a scavenger hunt.
Family Day: Fossils is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors can meet paleontologists, see and touch real fossils, dig for bones, investigate tracks, create fossil artwork and more. On Family Day, there is no admission fee for children 14 and under, thanks to support from TOTE.
These programs are included with admission and are free for members. For more information about museum events, visit the museum website or call 907-474-7505.
