Observation and mindfulness workshop and artist talk

Jonathan VanDyke will offer workshops and talks about art and mindfulness.

The University of Alaska Museum of the North is offering a workshop on “Sustained Observation and Mindfulness” on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 3:30 to 6 pm. Artist Jonathan VanDyke will guide participants in dynamic guided reflections on collection objects that span centuries and cultures.

No experience is necessary. Pre-registration is required. The number of participants will be limited to allow for distancing, and masks will be required. For more information or to register, visit bit.ly/uamnadulted or call 474-5360.

VanDyke will also present an artist talk on Sept. 3 at 10 a.m., hosted by the Department of Art.

The lecture will be held in the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility, BP Design Theater, Room 401
and via Zoom. 

VanDyke is currently a guest faculty member for the UAF undergraduate interdisciplinary program. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art and the University of Glasgow on a Rotary International Fellowship. He earned his M.F.A. from the Milton Avery School at Bard College.
