Recreation professionals to discuss the business of hunting on Feb. 1

The first event in the Spring Speaker Series, “Careers on the Business Side of Hunting,” will be held from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, online via Zoom.

The Spring Speaker Series is hosted by University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Business and Security Management’s sport and recreation business program.

The panel will focus on business aspects of careers in the hunting industry.  Attendees will hear from three industry professionals with various backgrounds, career paths and career levels related to the hunting industry. 

Featured guests will include the following speakers:

  • Steve Adair - chief scientist, Ducks Unlimited
  • McKenzie Mitchell - big game guide, pilot, flight instructor and entrepreneur
  • Kurt Racicot - founder, owner and lead designer, Stone Glacier

Anyone interested in the topic of hunting beyond the careers panel is encouraged to explore the resources available at UAF. The Department of Alaska Native Studies and Rural Development offers programs and courses from a subsistence perspective.
