Rui honored with distinguished service award

UAF alumnus Ray Zhenhua Rui has received the 2021 Society of Petroleum Engineers International Distinguished Service Award.

Rui earned a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from UAF in 2009, followed by a master of business administration degree in 2011, and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies in 2012. Rui is currently the Distinguished Chair Professor at China University of Petroleum, Beijing.

Rui was recognized for his exceptional accomplishments in petroleum engineering, exhibiting tremendous originality, creativity, dedication to the international petroleum community, and his significant contributions and leadership roles for over 20 Society of Petroleum Engineers and United Nations committees.

“I would like to thank UAF and the petroleum engineering department, which provided a great platform and support for me to grow,” he said. “UAF experience and tremendous support definitely make a great contribution to help me win this award.”
