Jim LaBelle will present “Truth and Healing: Alaska’s Native Boarding Schools,” part of the Shine a Light speaker series, at noon Tuesday, Nov. 16, via Zoom online or phone.

LaBelle will share a short historical narrative of boarding schools in Alaska, intertwined with his personal experiences.

LaBelle, an adjunct faculty member with the University of Alaska Anchorage College of Business and Public Policy, is Inupiaq with roots in Kotzebue and Noorvik.

The event is sponsored by UAF’s Northwest Campus, Nanook Diversity and Action Center, and Department of Equity and Compliance.
