Survey on professional development needs

UAF Staff Council is evaluating whether staff are satisfied with the professional development training tools offered by Deer Oaks. Interim President Pat Pitney authorized $100,000 to be used across the UA system for additional staff development. UAF is slated to receive $49,000 of that funding, which was dependent on the number of staff at each university.

Staff Council’s intent is to maximize cost effectiveness by exploring options that meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be able to be used by all UA.
  2. Cost should be based on utilization (lower users, lower cost).
  3. Must not be something UA HR should be providing already.

Staff Council will work closely with Staff Alliance and the other universities to find a shared methodology but would like to hear from you what you need to improve your quality of work or life. This need not apply to your current position but could apply to skills related to where you want to go, not necessarily where you are.

The survey is very short and is due by Sept. 12. Faculty are also welcome to fill out the survey. For more information, contact Raina Collins, University Advocacy Committee, at racollins2@alaska.edu.
