Students, staff and faculty from the UAF Community and Technical College Culinary Arts and Hospitality program partnered with the Alaska Railroad and HooDoo Brewing Company for the third year to produce the annual HooDoo Choo Choo event.

This Oktoberfest-themed event sold out in two days. More than 260 guests traveled in a specially-configured train from Fairbanks to Nenana and back. Culinary students helped prepare food throughout the week with HooDoo beer and German-themed appetizers. The menu featured local products from the Tanana Valley Farmers Market and Tommy G's butcher shop, and included pretzels and beer cheese, meatballs with gravy, reuben sandwiches, bratwurst and sauerkraut. Dessert consisted of salted caramel panna cotta and HooDoo stout infused cupcakes.

The HooDoo Choo Choo provides students with the opportunity to see the organization and effort required to produce a complex and large-scale event and experience food service onboard a moving train kitchen. Proceeds help support the CTC Culinary Arts and Hospitality program.
