UAF to host Three Minute Thesis graduate student competition

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Graduate School will host its second annual Three Minute Thesis competition on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. in the Schaible Auditorium. A reception will follow the competition. The event will also be available online via Zoom and streamed live on the UAF Facebook page

Developed by the University of Queensland in Australia, 3MT competitions allow graduate students to share their work with a broad audience in three minutes or less using only a single PowerPoint slide. 3MT promotes students’ academic and professional communication skills and increases students' capacity to explain their scholarship while engaging and entertaining a general audience. Spectators can support UAF graduate students while learning about their research efforts. Spectators also can vote on the People’s Choice Award.

Presenters will compete for cash prizes and a chance to advance to the western regional Three Minute Thesis competition in March.

More information and a link to the Zoom event are available at the Graduate School’s Three Minute Thesis webpage.
