Seminar on Alaska soil warming, carbon sink strength

Date: Feb. 21, 2022
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Zoom

With climate change ongoing, the Arctic has exhibited some of the most dramatic changes in land, atmosphere, and ocean systems. This seminar series aims to promote international collaboration between the International Arctic Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Arctic Research Center at Hokkaido University, primarily focused on ocean sciences.

February presenters:

Eugénie Euskirchen (Institute for Arctic Biology, UAF)
Title: Remarkable interannual variability in the carbon sink strength of an Alaskan boreal peatland complex based upon a decade of eddy covariance Measurements"

Gaku Amada (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology)
Title: Ecophysiology of lower-side leaf trichomes in cold alpine areas and research plan in Alaska
