United Way campaign has begun

The United Way of the Tanana Valley has begun its annual fundraising campaign. The United Way supports 18 nonprofit agencies in the Interior dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone. It takes all of us working together to build strong and vibrant communities. I hope you will join me in supporting the United Way this year.
UAF has set a goal to raise $40,000 for United Way this year and we are hosting lunchtime Zoom meetings to spotlight some of the agencies supported by United Way. Dec. 1 will feature the Breadline, Dec. 2 will feature the Alaska Center for Children and Adults, and on Dec. 3, we will hear from the Resource Center for Parents and Children. These lunch meetings are a great way to hear about how your donation makes a difference in our community through the eyes of the agencies and recipients. We'll be sharing details about how to participate in these meetings soon.
In spring 2020, the United Way came through for UAF! The staff at United Way heard that our students were struggling because of the pandemic, and United Way gave $25,000 to the UAF Student Support Fund! I encourage you to give back to this amazing organization that supports so many within our community. All employees can use payroll deduction to make contributions through the UAF United Way webpage.
This year terrific door prizes will be given away, including two round-trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies, memberships to the Student Recreation Center, tickets to Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra concerts and more!
I’d like to thank this year’s UAF co-chairs, UAF acting fire Chief Forrest Kuiper and eCampus corporate enrollment specialist Teresa Thompson. And I want to thank each one of you for considering how you would like to support United Way's campaign this year.
Thanks for choosing UAF.
