Week’s events: Ron Inouye, cardiovascular health, Denali in collodion photos, eclectic tunes

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 31-Aug. 6:

  • On Monday, July 31, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Ron Inouye. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Romel Wrenn, cardiologist, with a presentation on “Determining Your Risk of Cardiovascular Disease” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 2, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Charles Mason, professor of photography. He will present “Denali Through Collodion Photography” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 3, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Headbolt Heaters at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
