Week’s events: Theresa Reed, considering cancer, Kesler Woodward, steel drums

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of June 26-July 2:

  • On Monday, June 26, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors Theresa Reed, retired music teacher, performer, theatrical costumer and advocate for the arts. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, June 27, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Dr. Andrew Cox, oncologist, discussing “A Systematic Approach to Considering a Cancer Diagnosis in 2023.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, June 28, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Kesler Woodward, professor emeritus of art. He will discuss “Why Scientists Might Want to Work with Artists” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, June 29, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Cold Steel Drums at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
