Week’s events: Tom Bundtzen, lifestyle as medicine, crafting community, string band

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of Aug. 7-13:

  • On Monday, Aug. 7, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Tom Bundtzen. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 8, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Sally Mangum, internist, with a presentation on “Lifestyle as Medicine” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 9, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Jess Peña, executive director of Fairbanks Arts Association. She will discuss “Crafting Community: Creative Community-Building in and Through the Arts” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 10, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the The ET Barnette String Band at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
