Week’s events: Wendell Schiffler, senior living choices, art talk, marimba music

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 24-30:

  • On Monday, July 24, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Wendell Schiffler. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, July 25, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Vickie Wilson, former director of the Division of Alaska Pioneer Homes. She will discuss “Senior Living Choices in Fairbanks as We Age” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 26, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Scott Holladay, adjunct instructor in sculpture, presenting “What is it About Art?” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 27, the Music in the Garden concert series will present the Serevende Marimba Ensemble at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
