50 Years of Toolik Research

Join us for our Visitor's Day!

Date: Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9:30
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Toolik Field Station, located at the Toolik Lake turnoff, mile 284.5 of the Dalton Highway.

This summer, travel the Dalton Highway to get an up close look at the world's largest Arctic research station! 

Meet station staff and scientists as you tour Toolik facilities and long-term research sites. Learn about the exciting science happening at the station. Immerse yourself in the unique sights and sounds of Alaska’s Arctic tundra with the Toolik Naturalist. 

Visit with station staff and scientists on timed tours or venture on self-guided science and nature walks.

            9:30 - 11 a.m. Naturalist tour - or - Research site tour

11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Station tour

                     12-1 p.m. Lunch

                 1-1:30 p.m. Station tour

               1:30- 3 p.m. Naturalist tour - or - Research site tour

                           4 p.m. Event ends.

Visitors are responsible for their own travel to and from the station. No overnight accommodations will be provided. Camping is not allowed in the Toolik Research Natural Area but is available at the nearby Galbraith Lake Campground. Lunch is available for purchase in advance on our online store. Lunch tickets are $30, non-refundable and must be purchased by May 16.

 
Lunch includes items from the hot buffet line, a selection of soft drinks, a wide variety of milks (both dairy and non-dairy), juices, Gatorade powder, coffee, and teas, access to the sandwich and salad bar, and a Toolik mug.
 
With advance notice, the kitchen can accommodate vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets and will attempt to accommodate additional allergies.
