The Mammal Collection is the 8th largest collection of mammals and the largest collection of marine mammals in North America. It includes over 137,000 specimens, mostly from Alaska and adjacent regions of Canada and Russia. There are world-class holdings of northern carnivores, including pinnipeds, and extensive chronological series of carnivores, shrews, and rodents. Tissues for more than 75,000 specimens are archived in Genomic Resources.
