BIO
Fran Kohl is a junior project manager for ACEP's Marine Energy program. She formerly served as assistant to the director.
Kohl comes to ACEP with experience in science, logistics, and finances, and a lifelong fascination with energy. Prior to ACEP, she worked as a research professional for hibernation research, a logistics coordinator for Polar Field, and the financial coordinator for the Cold Climate Housing Research Center.
Kohl grew up highly active in outdoor sports and pursuits in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a beautiful alpine town of Bavaria, Germany. She went on to study biology and traveled three continents before landing in Alaska. She immediately fell in love with Alaska for its wilderness, space and freedom, and quickly made it her home.
Outside of work, Kohl enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband, two energetic children and an agile dog, in an energy efficient timber frame home she and her husband built together. The outdoors, yoga and neuroscience keep her spirits high as well.
