BIO
Ken Papp assists the director and leadership team in managing researchers and staff, and helps oversee the progress of major programs, projects and their related budgets. In his role as the deputy director, he also helps ACEP discover new, strategic partnerships at the community, state and federal levels to ensure the center successfully achieves its goals.
Papp earned his B.S. in Geology from the University of Cincinnati, and his M.S. in Volcanology and Remote Sensing from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Before joining ACEP, Papp worked for the state for almost 20 years as a geologist with the Department of Natural Resources' Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) in Fairbanks, a project manager at the Alaska Energy Authority, the curator of the Geologic Materials Center, and operations manager, and acting director/state geologist for DGGS.
