BIO

Robert Bensin is a senior research engineer at ACEP. Originally from Long Island, New York, he came to Alaska for adventure and travel, and stayed when he was employed by Bering Straits Development Co. to work in Nome as an electrical administrator. He then worked as construction manager, creating the energy efficiency and renewable energy division. He turned to a stronger focus on providing not only affordable energy to the rural communities in the western region of Alaska but also a cleaner and healthier living environment.

Bensin helped construct and later became manager of Nome’s Banner Peak Wind Farm, and led the revitalization of the Pilgrim Hot Springs agricultural projects. He joined ACEP in May 2019 after a close 10-year working relationship.
