Ground Truth Alaska Report: Goals and Plans of Alaska’s Railbelt Electric Utilities

ACEP’s Alaska Energy Data partners, Ground Truth Alaska’s Erin McKittrick and Bretwood Higman, recently published a report comparing the goals that Alaska utilities set for themselves with predictions for the Regulatory Commission of Alaska and possible impacts that the renewable energy portfolio standard targets might present.

Overall, the report highlights the current status and future prospects of renewable energy, emissions reduction and gas usage in Alaska's Railbelt electric utilities, emphasizing the need for greater alignment among utility goals, RPS targets, and projected natural gas needs. The report provides an overview of recent progress, individual utility’s goals, and the methods they used.
