Virtual Alaska Electric Vehicle (EV) Workshop

June 16 & 17, 2020

Purpose

The transportation sector has begun its transition to electrification in different markets throughout the world.

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) and the U.S. Arctic Research Commission (USARC) are hosting a free Virtual Alaska Electric Vehicle (EV) Workshop on June 16th and 17th to bring together technical and academic experts and policy makers to share information, research findings, emerging research questions, and best practices relevant to EVs in Alaska and the Arctic.

The Virtual Alaska EV Workshop will explore the technical and economic potential of EVs in Alaska and the Arctic. It will contribute to a collective research vision for the circumpolar North, and showcase needs and opportunities in the Alaska EV sector.

Desired outcomes include:

1. Clearer vision of what we know, what we don’t know, and what we need to know;
2. Summary USARC-ACEP report on research and policy priorities for EVs in Alaska and the Arctic;
3. Enhanced potential for research collaborations.

Format

The virtual workshop will be held June 16th and 17th with an introduction and 4 panel sessions covering: the policy environment, charging behavior, operations and performance, and grid impacts of EVs and EV service equipment (EVSE). Each session will have a series of short presentations, followed by a moderated panel discussion and question and answer with the audience.

ACEP and USARC are pleased to offer this event free of charge to participants.
