ACEP Solar Panels Project Update

ACEP Solar Panels Project Update

All of the simulated solar panels have been installed. URSA students are logging the amount of time spent clearing one set of panels and measuring how much snow accumulates on the other set. Additionally ACEP research engineer, Daisy Huang, has ordered a pair of temperature loggers that will be installed on each set of solar panels to allow the students to monitor their exposure time to the air.

These activities are part of a larger feasibility study for installing 1MW solar panels on the hillside south of the Butrovich building on the UAF campus. Butrovich sits above the ice fog levels in the winter where there are no obstructions blocking the Interior Alaskan sun.

For more information on this project contact Dr. Daisy Huang at dhuang@alaska.edu.
