Cold Climate Housing Research Center
Alaska faces unique housing challenges including degrading permafrost, high energy
costs, logistical barriers for remote communities, and an unforgiving physical environment.
This makes it an ideal testing ground for new approaches to design and construction
of homes. The Cold Climate Housing Research
Center (CCHRC) works with communities to design and build experimental prototype homes
that address issues of building science, durability, and affordability.
Join us on November 19th to hear CCHRC share design strategies, data, and lessons
learned from recent prototype homes built in Buckland, Atmautluak, and right here
in Fairbanks.
