ACEP at Work: VDOS Project Logbook – Weekly Update

Project Description:  The Video Debris Observation System (VDOS) consists of the design, construction and testing of a remote video observation system designed to detect river debris with the goal of protecting hydrokinetic turbines.

Progress Update:  The video debris observation system was installed on the test stand this week. Installation included the web relay, router, Network Attached Storage (NAS) camera wiring and power supply breakers. The VDOS system is sharing its power supply with the BlackBox  (see above)  so that both systems can be operated simultaneously; however, each device is protected by separate breakers and has separate power outlets. This was done so that each system can be controlled and operated independently even though they are on the same test stand.

After installation, the web relay and router were configured similar to the BlackBox project (see above).

Work next week will consist of troubleshooting the system and once all devices are operating properly the cameras will be connected and configured.
