ACEP Intern Spotlight: Haley McIntyre

ACEP Intern Spotlight: Haley McIntyre

There are a number of interns working for ACEP this summer.  To highlight them and their work ACEP will be presenting a short synopsis weekly on each throughout the summer in a series titled the “ACEP Intern Spotlight.”

Haley McIntyre

Education | University of Alaska Fairbanks

Field of Study | Natural Resources Management

Focus of Study with ACEP | Global Applications Program (GAP) – As a part of her work with GAP, Haley participated in the Idaho National Lab’s Center for Space Nuclear Research summer fellowship program as a part of a joint effort with ACEP to understand the opportunities and barriers for the use of small modular nuclear reactors in Alaska.  For the upcoming school year, she will be researching Alaska’s policy and bonding standards for the decommissioning of oil and gas platforms on state lands in order to learn about possible state liability.

Post-Graduation Aspirations | Following her graduation in May 2015, Haley plans to remain a resident of Alaska. Although still deciding between pursuing a career with a state agency or a private company, she wants to stay engaged with Alaska’s energy issues by working on permits for energy projects or contributing as a policy analyst.
